Description
UNDP does not tolerate sexual exploitation and abuse, any kind of harassment, including sexual harassment, and discrimination. All selected candidates will, therefore, undergo rigorous reference and background checks.
The world is facing a collision of crises that are becoming increasingly protracted and complex. In this evolving landscape, the traditional, siloed approaches to aid are no longer sufficient. Now, more than ever, collaboration across humanitarian, development, and peace (HDP) actors is not just an aspiration – it is an operational imperative.
The UNDP Crisis Bureau is at the forefront of supporting countries to build resilience against these shocks. Central to this effort is the HDP Nexus Academy, a global centre of excellence for learning and practice. Born from a shared commitment to bridge divides and foster more coherent responses to crisis, the Academy has become the platform where ideas spurn collaboration, and where a new generation of leaders comes together to learn, reflect, and act. The Nexus Academy is part of a larger learning initiative of UNDP, the Crisis Academy.
Through its three pillars – Learning, Community, and Action – the Nexus Academy is shaping a shift in mindset: from short-term, siloed responses to long-term, integrated, and locally-grounded solutions. As we look to the future, the Academy is pioneering innovative tools to support this mission, including the development of an AI-powered knowledge platform, NexusMind, to transform curated HDP knowledge into actionable intelligence for practitioners worldwide.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated intern to join our team and contribute to this exciting work.
Under the overall supervision of the Nexus Academy Programme Specialist and in direct support of the team, the intern will:
1. Support the expansion and updating of the Nexus Knowledge Hub
- Assist in transforming the curated Nexus knowledge repository into a dynamic, AI-enabled platform.
- Contribute to the content pipeline by helping curate, tag, and upload verified resources.
- Support the testing and piloting of core functionalities, including natural language queries, insight synthesis, and the generation of learning materials and operational outputs.
- Provide feedback on user experience and help prepare for wider user testing and vetting with partners.
2. Assist in the design and delivery of cutting-edge learning experiences
- Provide substantive input into the curriculum for multi-stakeholder cohorts, tailored trainings, and online courses.
- Help prepare and deliver engaging training modules using online tools like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Slido.
- Compile and analyze post-training feedback to ensure our learning offer remains relevant and impactful.
3. Facilitate engagement of a vibrant global community of HDP practitioners
- Support the management of the Nexus Academy’s online community platforms, ensuring practitioners can connect and share insights.
- Contribute to organizing and executing community events, such as the "Open Houses" on critical nexus topics.
- Draft compelling content for social media, particularly LinkedIn, to showcase the Academy's work and engage with a wider audience.
- Passion for Innovation: A proactive attitude and keen interest in applying new technologies, such as AI and digital platforms, to solve development challenges.
- Analytical & Research Skills: Strong ability to analyze, synthesize, and present complex information concisely.
- Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly.
- Organization & Time Management: A self-starter with solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative spirit with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team and engage with internal and external partners.
