The Chief Security Officer leads the Security and Safety Section (SSS) at ESCWA, reporting to the Executive Secretary with technical supervision from UNDSS in New York. The role involves advising senior management on security threats, developing security policies and evacuation plans, and coordinating with local authorities and international institutions for disaster response. Key responsibilities include managing guard forces, arranging protection details for VIPs, and overseeing staff training on residential and personal security. The incumbent must maintain awareness of local security conditions in Lebanon, identify threats, and ensure the safety of staff and dependents. The position requires strong leadership to manage the SSS team, foster a healthy work environment, and represent ESCWA at regional and interagency forums. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in security management, military, or police backgrounds, along with deep knowledge of Lebanon's political and social landscape. Proficiency in security tools and devices is essential. The role demands high-level competencies in professionalism, communication, planning, leadership, and decision-making under pressure. It is a fixed-term contract available for one year, with potential extension based on funding and mandate.
