About this role
The Data Consultant for risk information for Syria will support the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management (MoEDM) in strengthening national coordination around data and increasing risk knowledge. Key responsibilities include aggregating and structuring national statistical data, executing data validation and quality assurance, developing digital data collection templates, conducting research to map capacities and vulnerabilities, managing GIS data integration and spatial analysis, authoring Standard Operating Procedures, managing training sessions, and populating the national risk knowledge repository. The role requires close coordination with stakeholders and adherence to Sendai Framework standards. The position is based in Damascus, Syria, and is home-based.
Key requirements
- Advanced university degree in Communications, International Relations, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or related field
- 3+ years experience in risk data management, statistics, risk information, research, or policy coordination
- Proven experience in organizing high-level national workshops or multi-stakeholder consultations
