About this role

This internship is located in Amman, Jordan, within the Private Sector Fundraising Division of UNRWA's External Relations department. The intern will support the High-Value Donor (HVD) unit under the guidance of the Private Philanthropy Loyalty Officer. Key responsibilities include designing concept notes, proposals, and reports; contributing to donor cultivation activities such as webinars, seasonal outreach, and loyalty gifts; and drafting social media content. The role involves organizing meetings and calls with partners, conducting research on fundraising opportunities, and performing donor intelligence research to strengthen retention efforts. Additionally, the intern will compile data on key performance indicators and support the preparation of quarterly reports and analyses. The ideal candidate is a current student or recent graduate with a background in Business Management, Communication, Marketing, International Relations, Journalism, or Social Sciences. They must demonstrate a service mindset, strong research and data analysis capabilities, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Fluency in English is mandatory, while Arabic is desirable. The position is unpaid, lasting six months starting in August 2026, with potential for remote work evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Private Philanthropy Loyalty Officer, the Intern will be performing the following tasks:

  • Support the High-Value Donor (HVD) unit in designing and developing concept notes, proposals and reports;
  • Contribute to donor cultivation activities and products, including but not limited to online webinars, seasonal outreach, loyalty gifts, visibility products (including drafting social media posts), supporting the organization of field visits and developing branded items;
  • Support the HVD unit in organizing meetings and calls with partners;
  • Conduct research on fundraising and networking opportunities, and support the unit in preparing for network events and/or meetings with prospects;
  • Conduct donor intelligence research on existing high-value donors and their networks to strengthen retention and cultivation efforts;
  • Compile data on the HVD key performance indicators and support in preparing quarterly reports and analyses on High Value Donors portfolio.

Qualifications/special skills

Education: Applicants must be students enrolled in, or have recently completed (i.e. commence internship within one year of graduation date), either a graduate school programme (i.e. second university degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent), with major area of study in Business Management, Communication, Marketing, International Relations, Journalism, Social Sciences, or another relevant field is required.

Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Arabic is a plus.
