The Inter-American Development Bank seeks a Policy Support Consultant to assist the Venezuela Country Team in formulating public policies for economic and social reconstruction. About This Position
We are seeking a professional in the fields of law, public policy, and/or economics who have experience in the formulation and coordination of public policies to support the actions carried out by countries in the region aimed at facilitating economic growth in the region.
You will work in the Andean Countries Department, which is responsible for the promotion and development of IDB Group country strategies and programming in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú and Venezuela. The department supports the processing, negotiation and administration of regional and country specific projects and programs; leading and maintaining the relations of the IDB Group with member countries; supporting the implementation of country-specific operations, promoting and coordinating the use of the funds administered by the Bank or under parallel financing agreements and monitoring the operation-related procurement activities of Bank borrowers and beneficiaries.
The objective of this consultancy is to provide support to the Venezuela Country Team in the process of formulating public policies aimed at supporting the study and analysis of actions to address the crisis affecting the country; conceptualizing and designing public policies focused on the reconstruction and recovery of economic and social growth; and addressing and managing challenges related to the design and implementation of interventions, in line with the IDB Group Institutional Strategy: Transformation for Greater Scale and Impact.
What You’ll Do
- Support the process of identifying and designing interventions focused on the country’s reconstruction and recovery in the short, medium, and long term.
- Support the identification, conceptualization, and design of interventions aimed at mitigating the impact of the crisis on the most vulnerable population and improving the delivery of basic social services.
- Support the analysis of public policy actions aimed at strengthening institutions, promoting good governance, and addressing the country’s challenges related to Fragility, Conflict, and Criminal Violence (FCCV).
- Support dialogue and interaction with relevant stakeholders from the international community and within the country, including the preparation of summaries and reports on activities carried out, challenges faced, lessons learned, and pending issues.
- Support the analysis of the current regulatory framework, including the review of legislative proposals and the international framework.
Support in operational matters related to IDB project.
Education: Master’s degree in public policy, law, economics, or related disciplines.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the analysis and formulation of public policies, with a special emphasis on Venezuela and on areas related to the legal field and the strengthening of the State’s institutional capacity.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required.
