Duties and Responsibilities

These positions are located in the Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) in the Department of Operational Support (DOS). The Department of Operational Support was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operating entities across the United Nations Secretariat, including other departments, offices away-from UN headquarters, UN field missions, and UN regional commissions. The Office of Supply Chain Management includes the Office of the Assistant Secretary General for Supply Chain Management, Logistics Division, the Procurement Division, the Uniformed Capabilities Support Division, Global Service Centre, Aviation Safety Section and the Enabling and Outreach Service. OSCM is committed to building efficient, agile, responsive, accountable, end-to-end uniformed capabilities and supply chain solutions for all our global partners and clients. Supply Chain Management covers a wide scope of services including supply chain planning and performance management, logistical support, procurement, vendor management and supplier diversity, aviation safety, and uniformed capabilities support. In addition to operational services and support, OSCM also provides advisory services and guidance to nearly 100 client entities globally, as well as to troop and police contributing countries (T/PCCs). The incumbent will report to the relevant Supervisor. Our interns work as full members of our team, pursue projects that are designed to make a significant difference in OSCM, and have opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall. OSCM offers internship opportunities in Communications and Design: This track aims at applicants with some experience with graphic design, Graphic Design, Website Design. • Design core identity products that illustrate corporate vision, mission, and values . • Design and prepare content/copy for corporate briefings, presentations, fact sheets, and snapshots. • Support the development of websites, including layout, content, look and feel. • Provide design support across a range of print and online products. • Collaborate with the team to update and maintain the Services and Sections pages on SharePoint and iSeek. • Create a communication plan for Social Media Platforms by selecting relevant topics, determining posting frequency, and exploring platform' integration options. • Apply graphic design skills to enhance visual appeal, improve user experience, and ensure consistency with organizational branding. • Incorporate interactive elements, icons, and layouts that make information more accessible and engaging for internal stakeholders. • Participate in brainstorming sessions to identify new ways to communicate initiatives. • Assist in creating templates or style guides for future communications.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the UN, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above). We are open to a broad range of educational and professional backgrounds. Typically, for this opportunity our interns are pursuing studies and experiences in the following areas: Adobe Photoshop; Adobe Illustrator; Canva Pro; etc. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advanced course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Knowledge of data analysis tools is desirable. Have you completed an UN Internship before? If yes, please include the UN entity, as well as the assignment dates.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

Additional Information

Visa and Work Authorization Mandatory Requirements: For internships in the United States of America, persons who are not United States citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant (such as F1 or J1 visa) status, will be required to obtain a G4 visa. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that they hold a valid visa, and approved employment authorization (CPT/OPT/AT), allowing them to undertake the internship.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
