This internship offers a placement within the Security and Justice Unit of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Mexico City. The intern will support the unit's operational and analytical functions by assisting in the planning of agendas, meetings, and events related to human rights issues. Key responsibilities include supporting investigations into various thematic areas, handling transparency requests, and monitoring media coverage. The role also involves drafting notes, internal communications, presentations, and other documents relevant to the unit's thematic areas. The ideal candidate is a graduate student in a social science field (such as law, sociology, international relations, or political science) or a final-year undergraduate student in these disciplines. The position requires fluency in Spanish and a working knowledge of English. This is an unpaid internship where the candidate is responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Asistencia a la Unidad de Seguridad y Justicia.
- Asistir en la planeación de agendas, reuniones o eventos relacionados con los temas relacionados a la Unidad.
- Apoyar en la investigación de diversos temas relacionados con la Unidad, incluyendo solicitudes de transparencia y seguimiento a medios de comunicación.
- Apoyar en la elaboración de notas, comunicaciones internas, presentaciones, y diversos tipos de documentos relativos a las áreas temáticas señaladas.
- Apoyar en otras tareas que sean necesarias para el cumplimiento de los objetivos de la ONU-DH.
Qualifications/special skills
1. Ser estudiante de maestría en alguna ciencia social (derecho, sociología, relaciones internacionales, ciencia política u otras carreras afines); o 2. Ser estudiante o haber completado el último año de licenciatura, en alguna ciencia social (derecho, sociología, relaciones internacionales, ciencia política u otras carreras afines).
Languages
Inglés y francés son los idiomas de trabajo oficiales del Secretariado de Naciones Unidas. Para esta pasantía, se requiere fluidez en español (hablado y escrito) y conocimiento del inglés es deseable.
Conocimiento de algún otro idioma oficial de Naciones Unidas es una ventaja. Los idiomas oficiales del Secretariado de naciones Unidas son árabe, chino (mandarín), francés, español, inglés y ruso.
