The Role: The Social Media & Content Specialist will collect, create and curate digital content (video, photos, graphics, copy) for WFP Afghanistan’s social media platforms. Reporting to the Communications Officer, and within the full Partnerships, Communications and Reporting Unit, this role will manage social accounts and maintain a content calendar that reflects priorities while leveraging each platform’s strengths. Experience in videography and photography, strong copywriting and proficiency in graphic design are essential.
ACCOUNTABITLITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Social Media Content Sourcing and Production
Capture photos and videos from field locations, events and activities that showcase WFP’s work and impact.
Develop case studies that profile WFP’s work and impact.
Script, edit and produce multimedia content (video, graphic, photo) specific to social platforms.
Create content packages tailored to donor requirements.
Understand organizational priorities and key messages and find creative ways to turn them into social-friendly content.
Collaborate with cross-functional team members on content ideas with the aim of creating dynamic, impactful and differentiated content.
Stay up to date on the latest content trends across platforms.
Ensure all content adheres to WFP branding, visibility, and ethical guidelines, including protection and dignity of beneficiaries.
Platform Management and Data Analysis
Develop and curate a content calendar that balances communications priorities, key messages, incoming content and social media best practices.
Write social media copy and schedule organic posts on daily basis for Twitter and Facebook.
Conduct social listening and monitoring to track online conversations, measure engagement, identify emerging risks and trends, and provide insights that inform WFP Afghanistan’s social media plan.
Graphic Design
Develop visually compelling graphics tailored for social media platforms, ensuring alignment with WFP branding and messaging.
Design graphics, infographics and visual assets for reports and presentations to clearly communicate WFP’s impact and priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
- Master’s degree in communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, Political science or other relevant field or bachelors degree with two additional years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- At least one (1) year of postgraduate professional experience in social media content creation and platform management.
Language:
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and local languages (Pashto/Dari)
Knowledge & Skills:
Excellent knowledge of major social media channels including Facebook, Twitter.
Proven track record of social media messaging and management for a large international non-profit organization.
Working knowledge of digital design and video editing tools such as Adobe Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Adobe Light.
Strong creative copywriting skills.
Content production (graphics, video, briefs, one pager, power points).
Experience and demonstrable portfolio of digital visual asset creation.
Previous experience in photography and videography.
Ability to work well independently and within a team structure.
Strong time management and planning skills.
