ABOUT THE JOB

The ICRC Health Unit seeks a competent Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Field Officer to join our team in Lviv. The MHPSS Field Officer (Psychologist) is responsible for implementing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities in close collaboration with the relevant manager/supervisor. The role includes providing direct psychological and psychosocial support to individuals affected by armed conflict and/or other situations of violence, with a particular focus on individuals who have missing family members.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, implement, and follow up on MHPSS activities at local and national level
• Implement MHPSS activities directly through individual consultations and group support meetings mainly for families whose relative is missing
• Create and maintain direct links with MHPSS programme beneficiaries. Organize referral and follow up of cases as required
• Set up and use culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensure regular data collection
• Develop and maintain contacts with external stakeholders, according to the MHPSS strategy
• Translate and ensure context-appropriate material for training and clinical supervision
• Train and supervise MHPSS staff from other organizations/partners/teams as per the programme strategy
• Maintain regular communication with his/her supervisor, providing data and programme updates

ABOUT YOU

To be successful as Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Field Officer in the Health Department, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics: 

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
• University degree in psychology or clinical psychology and/or Qualification in an evidence based psychological approach
• License to practice with documentation confirming membership in a national association.
• A minimum of 3 years of overall professional experience, with minimum 2 years of experience in MHPSS programmes preferably in international or local humanitarian organizations
• Proven experience and strong expertise in delivering individual and group psychological / psychosocial support to beneficiaries
• Experience working with people affected by violence, families with missing relatives and with weapon wounded patients in hospital settings is an asset
• Excellent clinical assessment skills, including conducting risk assessments with professionalism and sensitivity
• Proven experience in developing and conducting trainings and providing supervision in close coordination with partners and stakeholders
• Comprehensive knowledge of psychological interventions at Levels 1, 2, and 3 of the MHPSS pyramid, including clinical, psychosocial, and community-based approaches, as well as other relevant methods. Practical understanding of their application in humanitarian contexts and within Ukraine’s mental health system
• Strong ability to establish effective communication with stakeholders, including beneficiaries and operational partners
• Understanding of Ukraine’s current political, economic, social, and cultural dynamics
• Ability to travel within the geographical area of responsibility
• Professional fluency (written and spoken) in English and Ukrainian
• Computer literate, including good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
• Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
