This internship within the World Bank Group's IFC Environmental and Social (E&S) team supports investment operations in Nigeria, Central, and Southern Africa. The role focuses on E&S screening, due diligence, and portfolio supervision to ensure compliance with IFC Performance Standards. Key responsibilities include reviewing E&S documentation (ESIAs, ESMS), tracking ESAP completion in systems like ESG360, supporting Annual Monitoring Reports, and conducting pre-mission document reviews. The intern will also perform E&S data analytics to identify portfolio risks, prepare management reports, and maintain knowledge repositories. The ideal candidate is a current master’s student or recent graduate with a bachelor’s in environmental science, engineering, international development, or natural sciences, possessing at least two years of professional experience. Strong analytical, research, and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in English and a demonstrated interest in development work.
