The Chief of Section, Public Information (P5) leads the Radio, Television and Broadcast Section within the UN Information Service in Geneva, reporting to the Director of UNIS. The role entails supervising the broadcast and webcast of main meetings, media activities, and events at the UN in Geneva. Key responsibilities include planning, producing, and distributing multimedia news coverage while maintaining high editorial standards for UNTV, UN Web TV, and UN News. The incumbent manages section resources, prepares production budgets, and executes procurement plans for capital equipment. The position requires coordinating contributions to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and UNifeed, as well as producing audio, video, and text content in English and French. Additional duties involve supervising photographic coverage, managing social media communications projects, and initiating co-production proposals with other UN entities and broadcasters. The role also includes deputizing for the Director as UN Geneva Spokesperson when required and representing the Service at inter-agency meetings. The ideal candidate possesses thorough knowledge of broadcast journalism trends, multimedia production, and international diplomacy, with proven skills in leading multilingual teams, managing budgets, and leveraging political sensitivities for editorial guidance.
