The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 100 countries and has 18,000 staff worldwide. ABOUT THE JOB
The ICRC Communication Unit recruits a Media Analyst (Environmental Scanning Officer) based in its Kyiv office. In close cooperation with team members and line managers, the Environmental Scanning Officer will support decision-making by proactively identifying, monitoring, and analyzing information from a variety of public sources in line with the delegation's priorities. S/He contextualizes and links the selected information with the political, economic, and security environment and performs systematic monitoring of the reputation of the ICRC and National Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in local languages or local media.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Media analysis: monitoring, measuring, and evaluating the visibility of the ICRC and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in Ukrainian sources (media and social media)
- Analysis of the Ukrainian news (both local and international media) linking the information to the broader political, social, and economic situation using facts and data
- Identifying influencers to support public and operational communication
- Identifying and monitoring a variety of public sources that are relevant for the ICRC (with a specific focus on local languages) on issues related to the delegation's communication and operational objectives.
- Proactively exploring, identifying, and analyzing emerging issues and trends.
- In times of crisis, monitoring and reporting to support the delegation's priorities and challenges
- Supporting data analysis performed by qualifying and validating local data and sources

ABOUT YOU
To be successful as an Environmental Scanning Officer in the Communication Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following
characteristics:
▪ Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
▪ University degree
▪ Certified experience in online information searching, filtering, and evaluating
▪ At least 6 years experience as Environment Scanning Officer or a similar position
▪ Excellent knowledge of the media and social media landscape
▪ Professional fluency in English and Ukrainian
▪ Computer literate
▪ Proven capacity to analyze complex and evolving situations and to write analytically.
▪ Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
▪ Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
▪ Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
▪ Confidence in managing projects and staff
▪ Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
▪ Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations
