The Senior Legal Officer (TJO), P5 position is located within the Office of the Assistant Secretary-General of the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism to assist in the Investigation and Prosecution of Persons Responsible for the Most Serious Crimes under International Law Committed in the Syrian Arab Republic since March 2011 (IIIM). The incumbent provides authoritative legal advice to the Head of the Mechanism on strategic, managerial, and substantive aspects of accountability for core international crimes. Responsibilities include handling complex legal matters involving international, criminal, and administrative law, advising on and supervising the review, negotiation, and drafting of major contracts and legal instruments, and supervising staff in the witness support and protection unit. The role requires extensive experience in international criminal law and significant professional legal experience in complex international cases. The position is temporary, with a maximum duration of six months and possible extensions, and is subject to funding availability.

Security Information Analyst Internship

The role requires strong analytical and research skills, familiarity with open-source methodologies, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Internet Resources Intern (Publication for roster purposes)

The Internet Resources Intern will support the Information Systems Management Section (ISMS) of the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) in Syria. The intern will conduct targeted open-source research and analysis on political, economic, social, technological, and legal issues related to the Syrian situation. Tasks include researching methodologies, synthesizing literature, assisting with information governance, data analysis, and script development. The intern will compile research into a final presentation for the IIIM. This is an unpaid, full-time internship with a maximum duration of six months, starting between August 1, 2026, and July 31, 2027. The position may be conducted remotely or in-person. The role requires fluency in English and French, with Arabic being an advantage. The intern must maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the same duties and obligations as staff members.
