UNICEF Malawi seeks a Social Policy Officer (NO-2) to provide technical, operational, and coordination support to the Government of Malawi. The role focuses on strengthening public financial management, including planning, financing, budgeting, expenditure management, and accountability for public resources. Key responsibilities include supporting budget analysis, social sector financing, decentralization, and oversight of public finances at national and sub-national levels. The Officer will generate and utilize evidence on social sector financing, child poverty, and child-focused services to inform policy dialogue, programming, resource mobilization, and donor reporting. The position requires engaging with government counterparts, development partners, and contractors to advance country programme results for children and vulnerable populations. This is a fixed-term position located in Lilongwe, Malawi, open exclusively to Malawian nationals.

Under the guidance of the Social PolicySpecialist, the Social Policy Officer will provide technical, operational and coordination support to strengthen the Governmentof Malawi’s planning, financing, budgeting, expenditure management and accountability for public resources, contributing toimproved outcomes for children and vulnerable populations.
