About this role
The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) is seeking a Full-stack .NET/React Developer Consultant to support the Enterprise Solutions Service, hosted by the United Nations Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Centre in Deqing, China. This 6-month role focuses on the design, development, and maintenance of web applications and services, with a specific emphasis on Geospatial and/or AI components. The consultant will engage in requirements analysis, coding, testing, and debugging while adhering to UN standards. Key responsibilities include producing technical and user documentation, managing version control via Git, and providing third-level application support and troubleshooting for deployed systems. The ideal candidate possesses advanced technical expertise in modern web technologies, particularly React, .NET Core, C#, and SQL, along with a strong understanding of REST APIs. The role requires proactive engagement with users and developers to ensure solution quality and continuous improvement. Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of other UN official languages is advantageous. The position offers 10 paid UN holidays and is open to candidates authorized to work in the duty station.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be expected to perform the following tasks, under the supervision of the team leader:
- Participates in the development, programming, testing, debugging and implementation of new applications with a Geospatial and/or AI components, using UN established standards.
- Prepares technical and user documentation for deployed applications, as well as training materials and conducts technical presentations.
- Provides support for deployed applications including version management and troubleshooting; performs ongoing reviews with users and developers and responds to users requests.
- Keeps abreast of developments in the field; performs benchmarking and proposes new tools and libraries.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. Nota bene:
- The consultant has 10 paid UN holidays per calendar year, following the calendar of the UNESCAP office in Bangkok.
Qualifications/special skills

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of other UN official languages is an advantage.
