About this role
The Development Coordination and Food System Consultant supports UNEP's regional efforts to advance the environmental dimension of sustainable development in Africa. The role involves providing technical support for the development of Country Cooperation Agreements (CCAs) and the UN-CF framework, aligning with the 6 transition pathways for UN-CFs. Key responsibilities include coordinating implementation of the 2nd UNRC dialogue outcomes, offering technical advisory support to UNCTs and RC systems, facilitating capacity building on UNCT FP mechanisms, supporting quality assessments of CCAs and UN-CFs, and contributing to high-level political representation through briefing notes and strategic readouts. The consultant also supports monitoring and evaluation of the Africa Office Management Project, resource mobilization for environmental financing, and food systems projects. The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, with a 6-month duration.
Key requirements
- Advanced university degree in environment science, conservation, natural resource management, engineering, project management, economics or related fields
- Two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of advanced degree
- Fluency in English
