Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs. These two positions are located within the Campus Support Unit/Technical, within the Central Service, based in the United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) in Brindisi, Italy. The BIM assistant interns report to the Chief Campus Support Unit. Interns will support the team in updating and managing the BIM (Building Information Modeling) model related to real estate assets. Tasks will include: 1. Assist in the development and updating of BIM models, including the creation and revision of architectural and technical drawings to accurately reflect the current status of real estate assets, including buildings, open spaces, and supporting infrastructure. 2. Support on-site surveys (in coordination with supervisors or engineers) to collect precise measurements and verify existing layouts in AutoCAD and Revit. 3. Assist in managing model data and parameters, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards. 4. Contribute to ensuring that all drawings clearly represent the functional use, allocation, and spatial organization of each real estate asset. 5. Assist in extracting drawings, quantities, and schedules directly from the BIM models for project documentation and reporting. 6. Collaborate with facilities management and engineering teams to ensure all drawings meet operational, technical, and visual standards. 7. Help maintain a digital archive of drawings, ensuring consistent file naming conventions and version control practices. 8. Assist in generating reports from data extracted from BIM models using Power BI.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: - be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); - be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). The field of studies must be closely related to architecture and engineering. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required (Engineering, Architecture or related). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Knowledge of Revit or AutoCad is required. Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications such as Office 365 particularly MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, SharePoint.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
