Duties and Responsibilities

IC Security Guards under Guard Force Management is accountable to the Chief Security Officer (CSO)/Deputy Chief Security Officer (DCSO) through the designated Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Compound Security Unit [Guard force Management Unit]. This position is in the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei. Duties and Responsibilities: Within limits of delegated authority and under the guidance and supervision of the designated Officer in Charge [OIC] of Compound Security Unit in Abyei, the incumbent will be responsible to carry out the following duties and responsibilities: • Provide Physical access and egress at UNISFA Premises/facility. • Provide physical access control to all personnel, vehicles and materials entering and exiting the UN Premises. • Conduct thorough physical check/search of both vehicles and personnel entering/exiting the UN Premises. • Ensure that all UNISFA personnel and Visitors wear and display their ID Cards visibly before entering the UN Premises and while inside the camp • Do not allow any unauthorized person and unknown parcels/packages access inside the UN Premises. • Ensure the proper conduct of inspection of all passengers and baggage at MOVCON and helipad. • Conduct routine foot patrol covering the whole area of the UN Premises. • Provide assistance to newly arrived personnel as well as visitors • Safeguard all UN properties particularly warehouses and storage areas and ensure traffic control and proper parking of vehicles at designated parking areas • Always ensure serviceability and cleanliness of all security equipment and report any damage, loss or breakdown to the Supervisor immediately • Be prepared to provide escort duties when required. • Conduct routine foot patrols and vehicle patrols. • Ensure that materials should be matched with the material and package gate pass before allowing said to be taken out of the UN premises. • Report and register all incidents that happened during Tour of Duty (TOD) as Security Guard • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the OIC Safety and Security Section through the Supervisor Guard Force Management Unit (GFMU)

Qualifications/special skills

Thris is a locally recruited position. Applicants must be legally authorized to work forthe United Nations in the duty station where the position is location (Abyei). High School or equivalent diploma is required. At least one (1) year of progressive experience with a local, national or private police, security, fire brigade organization or previous operational, administrative occupation/employment is required.

Languages

Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
