Description
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager (Shelter/NFI) in Cox’s Bazar and in coordination with the relevant unit the incumbent will assist the concern programme unit for implementation of the programme.
Responsibilities
1. Assist the Shelter/NFI Programme Manager with the development of shelter sketch designs and technical drawings of different shelter models by using different ecofriendly lightweight materials, communal facilities, distribution points by using computer- aided drawing software (CAD)
2. Assist the Shelter/NFI Programme Manager with the development of 3D views by using 3D modelling software.
3. Contribute to the development of architectural concepts, schematic designs, and design development phases.
4. Ensure that designs comply with building codes, zoning regulations, and other legal requirements.
5. Assist Shelter/NFI Programme Manager on conducting research on materials, construction techniques, and building systems to inform design decisions.
6. Prepare maps for small to large scale areas, with the guidance of Shelter/NFI Team, by using Geographic Information System software.
7. Assist in project management tasks, ensuring projects meet deadlines, budgets, and quality requirement.
8. Contribute to the quality control checks to ensure that design and construction documents are accurate and meet established standards.
9. Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable design practices.
10. Integrate sustainable and innovative solutions into architectural designs.
11. Represent IOM Shelter/NFI Programme in relevant coordination meetings and maintain programmatic relationships closely with architects, designers, engineers, and other team members, NGO partners, government authorities, and other relevant actors throughout all phases of a project.
12. Assist Shelter/NFI Programme Manager in present design proposals and updates to clients and gather feedback.
13. Foster a collaborative and creative work environment by actively participating in team discussions and design critiques.
14. Provide necessary information and documentation for the preparation of project reports to the donors, presentations, proposals for IOM to contact potential donors or any other purpose.
15. Address and resolve any project-related issues or challenges as they arise.
16. Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing expertise and knowledge.
17. Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
18. Share insights and contribute to problem-solving within the team.
19. Prioritize safety in architectural designs and ensure that projects comply with health and safety regulations.
20. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
• Master’s degree in architecture, Civil Engineer or a related field from an accredited academic institution with 2 years of relevant experience; or
• Bachler’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineer or a related field from an accredited academic institution with 5 years of relevant experience.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience in the usage of CAD, 3D modelling software is required.
• Experience in construction design is required.
• Experience in using GIS software and mapping is an advantage.
• Experience with International Organizations and/or NGOs is an advantage.
• Experience in shelter construction, site planning and site development is an advantage.
• Experience working within the region is an advantage.
• Experience in the usage of spreadsheets and data analysis is an advantage.
