The Director, Political Affairs serves as Deputy Head of the Peacebuilding and Peace Support Office (PBPSO) within the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations (DPPA-DPO). Reporting directly to the Assistant Secretary-General, this senior leadership role involves managing the office’s senior management team, overseeing personnel administration, and driving the implementation of PBPSO’s reform strategy. The incumbent provides strategic policy advice on peacebuilding, post-conflict transition, and security sector reform, supporting the Peacebuilding Commission and coordinating with UN entities, regional bodies, and international partners. Key responsibilities include developing peacebuilding strategies, monitoring stabilization efforts, preparing reports for inter-governmental bodies, and managing budgets and programmatic performance. The role requires extensive experience in conflict zones and senior-level representation.
