The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Turkmenistan seeks a Translator/Interpreter to support communication with government and international partners during online or in-person meetings, conferences, and events. The role requires providing high-quality consecutive and simultaneous interpretation between English, Russian, and Turkmen languages. Responsibilities include ensuring linguistic and grammatical accuracy, maintaining confidentiality, demonstrating strong communication skills, and understanding cultural sensitivities. The incumbent will support the Resident Coordinator's Office in its five core functions: strategic planning, economics, partnerships and development finance, data and results management, and communications and advocacy. The position is located in Ashgabad and is expected to last from June 15 to July 15.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Resident Coordinator Office supports the Resident Coordinator and the UNCT in developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting on the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and in all joint activities related to the implementation of Agenda 2030 in Turkmenistan. The UN Resident Coordinator's Office has five core functions: 1.Strategic Planning 2.Economics 3.Partnerships and development finance 4.Data and results management and reporting 5.Communications and advocacy To ensure smooth communication with government and international partners, RCO will need the services of professional translators/interpreters during variety of online or in-person meetings, conferences or other events. The incumbent will be responsible for following: -Provide quality consecutive/simultaneous interpretation during a meeting/conference or other event between English and Russian or Turkmen languages. -Demonstrate strong communication skills. -Good knowledge of cultural and sensitive aspects of the country. -Ensure information confidentiality.

Qualifications/special skills

University Degree in Foreign (English) languages obtained at recognized institution or other qualification obtained upon attending formal language training courses is desirable. Relevant practical experience (at least 5 years) as a translator of English - Russian-Turkmen is required.

Languages

Language: Fluency in English and Russian are required. Knowledge of Turkmen is desireable.
