DURATION: 1 year

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE APPOINTMENT:

The Finance and Management Services (Administration) Officer will lead, coordinate, and oversee the Finance and Management Services of the WFP Jordan Country Office, ensuring efficient service delivery, strong financial stewardship, compliance with WFP regulations, and effective support to programme implementation.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and coordinate finance and management services in support of the Country Office, ensuring compliance with WFP policies, procedures, and corporate systems.

  • Lead the financial assessment and due diligence of service providers, including FSPs, retailers, and other contracted entities. 

  • Contribute towards the development of country specific plans and processes, aligned with Regional and wider WFP strategy, policies and processes to meet the food assistance needs of beneficiaries within the Country.

  • Report on key data for financial status and outcomes of projects in accordance with corporate governance requirements, ensuring accuracy, deadlines, and accounting processes are complied with. 

  • Monitor budgets, carry out forecasting for ongoing and new projects, and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.

  • Manage cash, bank reconciliations, disbursements, receivables, and monthly financial closures in line with corporate requirements.

  • Deliver core administrative services, working with contractors and following standard processes to provide cost-effective, quality and timely services to WFP staff

  • Ensure effective delivery of administrative services (facilities, contracts, assets, fleet, protocol, service providers), promoting efficiency, value for money, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards.

  • Lead in the identification of requirements pertaining to resources aiming at efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness of operations and services.

  • Maintain working relationships with WFP’s internal and external stakeholders, other UN agencies and government entities ensuring relevant exchange of data and identifying areas of potential improved alignment of operations and cooperation.

  • Collate and analyse financial, staffing, and resource data to support management decision‑making and operational planning.

  • Strengthen internal controls, support risk assessments, and mitigate audit, compliance, and financial risks.

  • Supervise and guide junior staff, providing technical support and capacity development.

  • Support UN Reform and inter‑agency initiatives aimed at cost savings and improved service delivery.

  •  Follow standard emergency preparedness and response practices to support WFP to quickly deploy the needed resources to affected areas.

  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

Advanced University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related fields, or First University degree in the same subject(s) with additional years of related work experience plus membership in an international recognized professional accountancy body such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Certified Public Accounts (ICPA) or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Over 5 years of experience in finance, including 1 year of hands-on professional experience

  • Over 2 years of management services (Administration) experience

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail. 

  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast paced environment

  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, risk management, and compliance.

  • Strong client-oriented mindset, with the ability to understand, anticipate, and respond to the needs of internal and external clients in a timely, professional, and solution focused manner

  • Strong communication and coordination skills; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration, trust, and teamwork

  • Proficiency in using corporate systems and digital tools (e.g. ERP systems, document management platforms, MS Office applications).

Languages:

Fluency in both English (level C) and Arabic.
