About this role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Project Associate for its Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) programme. This role supports the implementation and monitoring of project activities, with a specific focus on Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), reporting, communication, and project development. The incumbent will retrieve, compile, and analyze data on project topics, monitor budgets, and act as the administrative focal point for project implementation. Key responsibilities include liaising with diverse organizational units (procurement, finance) and external parties (service providers, local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, donors) to coordinate activities and obtain necessary clearances. The associate will draft status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, and visibility materials, while identifying shortfalls and suggesting remedial actions. The role also involves monitoring the work of Implementing Partners, reporting non-compliances, and facilitating communication between the IBG Programme and the Programme Support Unit. The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite, and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Arabic, and French. The position requires experience in liaising with governmental authorities and working with vulnerable migrant populations, with prior experience in M&E and communication material creation considered an asset.

Organizational Context and Scope
Responsibilities
1.Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, with specific focus on M&E, reporting, communication and project development.
2.Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
3.Monitor budget by verifying availability of funds, obtaining necessary approval and updating budget-related information.
4.Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organisational units (especially procurement and finance) and external parties (especially external service providers) to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
5.Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls, escalate issues to the supervisor and suggest remedial actions to address delivery gaps.
6.Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.
7.Respond to complex information requests and inquiries, set up and maintain files/records, and organise meetings and workshops;
8.Participate in meetings and conferences to assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, United Nation (UN) agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
9.Assist in monitoring work of Implementing Partners (IP) and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
10.Facilitate communication between the IBG Programme and the Programme Support Unit (PSU) for the development of communication and visibility material.
11.Support the Programme Manager (IBG) in the development of project reports, and in the collection of information relevant to M&E of the different projects under the IBG Programme.
12.Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Political, Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or,
- High School diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups;
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage; and,
- Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of development projects, creation of Communication and Visibility materials, Reporting, Project Development, is considered an asset.
Skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills, particularly in the implementation of construction-related projects;
- Strong skills in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Skills in using Adobe suit (Photoshop, InDesign);
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Arabic, and French; and,
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
