The World Bank Group’s Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF) is seeking interns for its fourth-year Youth Internship Program under the WBG Pioneers initiative. Housed within the Planet Vice Presidency, this flagship partnership with the Republic of Korea supports innovative green growth solutions. Interns will gain hands-on experience at the intersection of global development and green growth through a blend of practical work and structured learning. Responsibilities include participating in lectures on green growth and WBG operations, completing team projects related to the grant portfolio, and undertaking individual research, communications, or knowledge assignments. Interns will also support KGGTF activities such as grant operations, monitoring and evaluation, research, partnership engagement, and communications. The role involves engaging in knowledge exchange activities, including site visits and meetings, while assisting with coordination and documentation. Description
WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group’s Internship Program, offers undergraduate and postgraduate students a high impact learning experience at the heart of global development. Participants gain hands on experience in a diverse and dynamic environment, contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and connect with international professionals working to end poverty on a livable planet.
The Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF), housed within the World Bank Group (WBG)’s Planet Vice Presidency, is a flagship partnership between the WBG and the Republic of Korea that supports innovative and scalable green growth solutions, contributing to the WBG’s mission to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity on a livable planet. By combining Korea’s development experience and technological leadership with the WBG’s global platform and operational reach, the KGGTF translates policy innovation into investment-ready solutions.
Now in its fourth year, the KGGTF Youth Internship Program, offered under the WBG Pioneers Program, provides interns with hands-on experience at the intersection of global development, green growth, and WBG operations. Interns will participate in lectures delivered by experienced WBG staff and experts from Korean partner institutions, undertake team projects and individual assignments, and engage in knowledge exchange activities and site visits. They will also support selected KGGTF activities, gaining practical skills, sector knowledge, and valuable professional networks throughout the program.
Duties and Responsibilities
The internship combines practical work experience with structured learning opportunities in green growth and international development. Interns will participate in lectures, complete team and individual assignments, engage in knowledge exchange (KE) activities, and support selected areas of KGGTF’s work.
Key components include:
- Learning and lectures: Participating in lectures and learning sessions on green growth, international development, WBG operations, and KGGTF-supported activities.
- Team and individual assignments: Undertaking a team project related to KGGTF’s grant portfolio and completing individual research, communications, or knowledge assignments.
- KGGTF work support: Supporting selected activities related to grant operations, monitoring and evaluation, research, partnership engagement, and communications.
- Knowledge exchange activities: Participating in KE visits, meetings, and site visits, while assisting with coordination, documentation, and the preparation of summaries or communications materials.

Selection Criteria
- Currently enrolled in Master’s degree program or a PhD program.
- Academic background in one or more fields relevant to KGGTF-supported green growth sectors, including agriculture; environment and natural resources; water; climate change mitigation and adaptation; energy; transport and mobility; urban planning and urban development; digital development; economics; public policy; international development; or other related disciplines.
- Full professional proficiency in both Korean and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills, is required.
Preferred Competencies
- Relevant professional, academic, or research experience in at least one KGGTF-supported green growth sector or cross-cutting area, including agriculture; environment and natural resources; water; climate change mitigation and adaptation; energy; transport and mobility; urban development; or digital development and technology-enabled green growth.
- Experience in research, data analysis, communications, digital content development, or the preparation of knowledge products is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse and collaborative team environments.
