Duties and Responsibilities

This internship is in the Enterprise Solutions Service, Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS), hosted by UNICTF and located in Valencia, Spain. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in OICT/ESS. Responsibilities: Daily responsibilities will vary and depend on the individual's background, including but not limited to: • Writing Python, JS/TS, C# or Java code • Deploying and testing application • Code commit to git • Participating in the weekly spring meetings • Preparing documentation • Preparing demo and demonstrate the application to an audience Competencies Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively. Identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required. Allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work. Foresees risks and allows for contingencies when planning. Monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary. Uses time efficiently. Qualifications/special skills

Applicants to the programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. The intern shall be able to write code in Python, JavaScript, Java or C# and use appropriate software development tools (git, etc.); Shall be able to work independently; Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required for the internship. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
