The Policy and Legal Coordination Officer (P-3) supports the Secretariat for the Policy-Making Organs (PMO) of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). The role involves providing substantive, analytical, and strategic advice to the Director of PMO, coordinating secretariat services for the Executive Council and Conference of States Parties, and managing the preparation of pre-, in-, and post-session documentation. Key responsibilities include monitoring the implementation of decisions, drafting reports and summaries, researching procedural practices, and ensuring compliance with governing documents and audit recommendations. The incumbent represents the Director in various committees, liaises with external stakeholders including delegations, and may supervise junior staff. The ideal candidate possesses strong diplomatic and negotiation skills, analytical abilities, and experience in multilateral decision-making processes, preferably within disarmament or non-proliferation contexts. The position requires a high level of client communication and the ability to navigate complex political and legal issues with discretion and professionalism. This is a fixed-term contract for two years, subject to a six-month probationary period, with a mandatory retirement age of 65.
