UN Women seeks an International Consultant to develop a regional factsheet for the 2026 Progress of the World’s Women report, focusing on women environmental human rights defenders (WEHRDs) in Europe and Central Asia. The consultant will analyze the role and contributions of WEHRDs, identify risks and challenges including violence and restricted civic space, examine barriers to participation and access to justice, and integrate gender-responsive perspectives. Key responsibilities include conducting light qualitative data collection through key informant interviews, linking findings to legal frameworks like the Aarhus Convention, and developing policy messages and recommendations for policymakers and UN agencies. The consultant will produce a 10-15 page factsheet, summary of key messages, and related deliverables under the guidance of the Regional Humanitarian/DRR/CCA Specialist. This is a home-based consultancy.
