The Political Affairs Officer (P3) supports the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on the Great Lakes Region in Nairobi. The role focuses on monitoring and analyzing political, security, and humanitarian situations in the Great Lakes area, particularly regarding the Peace, Security and Cooperation Framework for the DRC. Key responsibilities include providing analytical assessments and strategic recommendations to senior management, participating in mediation and conflict prevention activities, and preparing briefing notes and reports for high-level officials. The officer supports the formulation of programme plans and budgets, assists in organizing high-level meetings, and conducts fact-finding missions. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, experience in political outreach and reporting, and specific knowledge of the Great Lakes region. Fluency in both English and French is mandatory. This is a temporary assignment with no guarantee of future incumbency.
